A Harvey Wallbanger is either (1) a cocktail made with vodka, orange juice and Galliano, or (2) a player on the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team when Harvey Kuenn (pronounced "keen") was manager. The team was known for frequent homeruns and won the American League pennant in 1982. I used to think the cocktail was named after the Brewers, but it's really the other way around. So where did the name come from? The short answer is no one knows, except maybe some Galliano ad man in 1970. When I was teaching at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in the early 1980s, no one could spell my last name correctly because everyone was thinking about Harvey.
