I asked Great-Grammy what is a "hot" or a "slow" oven. Here are the conversions she recommends. I think they are based on Julia Child's chart in Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Very slow 160 to 240°F
Slow 265 to 310°F
Moderate 325 to 375°F
Moderately hot 380 to 425°F
Hot 428 to 450°F
Very hot 470 to 550°F
