Crumb CakeThis is basically a coffee cake with a baked topping. I've added an unbaked crumb topping from the mystery box. For the cake:
Pour batter into 2 greased and floured layer pans. Set aside. For the crumb topping:
Mix well and spread on the 2 cakes. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. For an unbaked topping:Bake the bare cake at 375°F for 25 minutes. While the cake is baking, make the topping. Mix together:
Zweiback (German for "twice-baked") is bread that has been baked, sliced thick, and baked a second time. Commonly used for teething babies, it is still available commercially, and there are lots of on-line recipes. I wonder if you could substitute biscotti crumbs (and reduce the sugar) for more flavor? |
