  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • sugar for topping

Beat together flour and margarine. When the mixture is like whipped cream, add sugar and eggs. Beat that a long time, about four or five minutes (electric mixer). Add grated rind of an orange. Grease and flour a loaf pan. Pour batter in the pan and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 1 hour at 325°F, then 1/2 hour at 300°F.

Grace added: You may have to experiment a little with the time. This is an old recipe, passed on by word of mouth. In my oven it is done in 1 hour.
