Fruit GemsAunt Sue made these for Christmas presents one year and they were truly delicious. But this recipe requires a hazard warning. Modern microwaves are generally more powerful than the earliest ones. When I tried this, I didn't think to use a lower power level (and it would have been a guess in any case). We wound up cleaning milk and sugar from the microwave, the counter top, the kitchen floor—and spent the next week finding places we missed. Next time, I'm going to use the stove top and watch it carefully, as I would for any candy. If I come up with a working version—or if one of you sends me one—I'll post it here.
