Orange Raisin Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Juice of 1/2 orange
  • Rind of 1 orange [grated]
  • 1 cup seedless raisins, chopped

Bake 35–40 minutes.

Heard on the radio about 1935–40.

I didn't put down any mixing directions, but I'm quite sure it should be done in the usual order. Cream butter and sugar together, add beaten egg, then the dry ingredients (sifted together to mix) alternating with wet ingredients. I then fold in the rind and raisins. I remember that it should not have a very sweet icing. How about orange marmalade for the filling?
